During the whole process of making our project me and Rosie used a whole load of media technologies. From programmes on the computer to recording equipment and cameras.
During the planning and research stages we mostly just used the internet. We did this to find out about genres and audiences. We used it to find out what makes a good music video and to also find examples. The best technology we used in this, personally I would say Google.
However, when we started the construction of our own video we began to use much more technology. The most important thing would be the video recorder and also the camera. Here is a picture of these:
Obviously these pieces of equipment were vital so that we could get pictures of locations etc. as well as record the video.
This brings me to the next piece of media technology that we used very much and this was in the editing stage of the video. To edit our music video we had to use Adobe Premiere Pro CS4. We were already familiar with this software from the previous year when we made our short film and also from our preliminary task. We used it to place all the shots in the correct places, we also uploaded the song to it and spent some time matching up the miming with the lyrics in the song. We used Adobe to add in certain effects such as black and white, to double up images and also to mirror shots. Adobe was the key to our editing.
All of the shots are listed on the top left hand side and to put them in place you have to drag them down into the bottom part of the screen. That is where you can cut the clips and add in the effects, also done by dragging into this area.
For the construction of our ancillary texts we used Fireworks, we used it because it is easy to use and we could do the things we wanted using this programme. We only used the blur tool which I used to blur some photos as i demonstrated on a previous slide. Other than that we just used the programme to put the texts together and I think it was very successful.
